EOR Training Courses
Fundamentals of Enhanced Oil Recovery
This course is an introduction to the fundamentals of enhanced oil recovery (EOR). Participants will learn what the broad term EOR encompasses, how to assess targets for EOR applicability, design of crucial experiments and piloting. Participants will become familiar with all currently deployed EOR techniques, including miscible and immiscible gas flooding, chemical methods including polymer and surfactant flooding, thermal flooding, modified brine flooding and more. Typical metrics for performance and economics of EOR will be provided. More info (PDF file).
Principles of Chemical Enhanced Oil Recovery
This course is an introduction to the fundamentals of chemical EOR (CEOR). Participants will learn the methods of CEOR flooding, including reservoir screening, laboratory tests, pilot phase, and field implementation. An understanding of CEOR processes and their displacement mechanisms will be obtained. More info (PDF file).
Chemical EOR Simulation Techniques
Simulation of Chemical EOR (CEOR) in reservoirs involves complex models which require training to properly apply; this course will guide clients through a comprehensive program to acquire this knowledge. Participants will learn about various simulation products and be trained in them. They will simulate the life cycle of CEOR, from bench-scale tests to field scale. By the end of the training, participants will have solid foundation in independent simulation of CEOR, including polymer, surfactant polymer (SP), alkaline-surfactant polymer (ASP), and more. More info (PDF file).
Introduction to Chemical EOR Laboratory Practices
The laboratory training course is an excellent way for individuals to understand the foundation of chemical EOR methods: laboratory studies. UEORSÕs skilled lab personnel sets the company apart from competitors and a week of observation, hands-on training, and formal learning with them is a unique opportunity for clients. The course covers four general areas: Lab Safety, Microemulsion Phase Behavior, Polymer Solutions, and Core Flooding. Clients have the option of focusing on one or more of these areas in more detail if requested. The course can be customized and tailored to the requirements of the client. More info (PDF file).
Tracer Training
This course will guide participants through a comprehensive program to acquire knowledge about different tracer tests, benefits of tracer tests, and field data analysis. Participants will learn about various tracer tests (i.e. single well and interwell) and about the chemical tracers used in each test. More info (PDF file).
Introduction to Nanotechnology for Petroleum Engineers
Novel nanoscale-structured materials, in the form of functional nanoparticles, solid composites and complex fluids, are bringing major technological advances in many industries. The upstream oil industry is now vigorously catching up to adapt those technologies to develop its own unique applications. Participants will learn the nanotechnology fundamentals, be introduced to important NT products and applications from other industries, and learn about the current state of various NT applications development in the upstream oil industry. More info (PDF file).
Polymer Flooding
This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the most widely used chemical EOR method: polymer flooding. Different classes of polymers used for EOR will be introduced. Participants will learn the methods of polymer flooding, including reservoir screening, laboratory tests, pilot phase, and field implementation. The use of polymer in polymer/gel conformance will also be discussed. Several field examples of polymer and polymer/gel will be reviewed. More info (PDF file).
Low Salinity Waterflooding
This course is an introduction to the fundamentals of Low Salinity/Smart waterflooding in sandstone and carbonate reservoirs. Participants will learn the development of low salinity methods, the complexity to isolate the underlying mechanism, and the current approach to model and evaluate field implementation of improved oil recovery by low salinity waterflooding. An understanding of important aspects of low salinity application will be obtained. More info (PDF file).
Introduction to Emulsions
This course is an introduction to the fundamentals of emulsion generation and characterization with a focus on how chemical EOR flood components can alter produced fluids. CEOR produced fluid emulsions can be very different from normal oilfield emulsions that result during secondary recovery efforts. This course also introduces participants to emulsion stability theory as well as the techniques and technology for emulsion breaking. The course can be customized and tailored to the requirements of the client. More info (PDF file).
